REMINDER:  No School this Thursday, November 11th In remembrance of Veterans' Day

CLASSROOM NEWS:  Last week we read personal narratives. We looked at things that the authors had done that we could include in our own personal narratives. On Thursday, a reptile expert from the OMSI came to share information with us. She brought several live reptiles including a leopard gecko, ball python, tegu, bearded dragon, and a box turtle. Students were given the opportunity to touch most of the reptiles and to ask questions. They learned some of the ways that the features they observed helped the reptile to survive in its habitat.

During math first graders worked on solving addition problems with unknown addends, and solving story problems. First graders can complete any pages in their math workbooks up to Module 1, Lesson 18. Second graders practiced measuring and comparing centimeter lengths. Second graders can complete any pages in their math workbooks up to Module 2, Lesson 10. Please do not be worried about "catching up" and completing all of the pages in the workbook.  You can decide which pages to work on based on your child's needs or interest. They can spend up to 10 minutes on math, but math homework is not mandatory.

SNACKS: Thanks to those of you who have donated snacks!! We are asking for donations of snacks or money to help us continue to provide healthy snacks. If you provide snacks, please make sure they are not sugary, are individually wrapped from the store, and there are at least 44 servings. We cannot serve any food that has been prepared in students' homes. If you are able to provide donations of either snacks or money for snacks, please leave these items at the front desk for us. We are sorry for the change part way into the year. Thank you for understanding.

CANDY:  Please do not include candy in your child's lunch. Students should not bring any candy or gum to school.

WATER BOTTLES AND EXTRA CLOTHES:  Please send your child to school with a water bottle and an extra pair of clothes.  Also, if you are taking your child's old clothes to GoodWill, consider donating them to the school. We will keep them in the Out & About closet to use when children need something dry or clean to wear. We have run out of spare water bottles to hand out to students that have forgotten to bring their own.
