CLASSROOM NEWS:  Last week we continued to read aloud books about light energy.  Students returned to having daily guided reading groups of 3 - 6 students. We practiced spelling words that followed the consonant-vowel-consonant pattern and words that end with silent e.  Students also played phonics and sight word games. First graders have been using and comparing different strategies for subtracting a single digit from a teen number. First graders can complete any pages in their math workbooks up to Module 2, Lesson 16. Second graders worked on comparing three-digit numbers using the symbols <, >, and =. Second graders can complete any incomplete pages in their math workbook up to Module 3 Lesson 17.  For our Out & About, Calvin's dad, Nate Ball, came in for a second time to teach about the electromagnetic spectrum, color and lasers!  Students made paper lanterns to demonstrate that some materials are translucent.

IMPORTANT: We are running low on snacks again.  Any donations of snacks are appreciated!   If you provide snacks, please make sure they are not sugary, are individually wrapped from the store, and there are at least 44 servings. We cannot serve any food that has been prepared in students' homes.
