Last week we continued to read The Heartwood Hotel. We took our first bus trip! We went to Fernhill Wetland to look for birds and listen to their sounds. Students drew pictures of the habitats and made their own "ochestra" by mimicking the sounds they had listened to.
In math, first graders measured the length of objects in centimeters. First graders can complete any pages in their math workbooks up to Module 3, Lesson 5. Second graders practiced the regrouping (borrowing and carrying) algorithms for two-digit addition and subtraction. Second graders can complete up to Module 4, Lesson 14.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
- We need donations of snacks. Snacks should be healthy and prepackaged (if not fruit). Unfortunately, we cannot serve homemade snacks. Fruit, string cheese, granola bars, and crackers are examples of snacks we can serve that kids like!
- Thursday, April 14th, Student-Led Conferences. Please call the office at 503-359-4600 to schedule a 20-minute conference. Conference times are available 9 a.m.-noon (last morning slot 11:30 a.m.) and 3-7 p.m. (last evening slot 6:30 p.m.). We recommend calling as soon as possible to find a time that works best for you. As the name indicates, students, rather than teachers, guide the conferences. They share with you what they have been working on in class and what they’re most proud of.
- Thursday, April 21st, Out & About to Chehalem Ridge Nature Park. Please send your child to school with layers of clothes, a rain jacket, comfortable shoes and/or rain boots, and a water bottle.
